Holy Bazooka where did May go? I could swear yesterday was January….Somebody stop the fast-forward button! I’m very anxious about finishing my last year of high school and starting university. At the same time though, I feel like its time to move on.
In the fall I will be attending Wilfrid Laurier University in Kitchener-Waterloo as an Honours Business/Financial Math student. I still haven’t decided on whether I will be living in residence or not. On the plus side, I wouldn’t have to worry about commuting and I could focus on school 100%. On the other side I could stay home, continue with my job at Crossfit and the possibilities opening up for me there, and ride the GO Bus which goes straight from my town station to the campus. And lets face it there’s no way I’m eating cafeteria food so even if I did move I would either suck it up and choose a room with a kitchen (that I’d have to share with 3 other people) or bring every single appliance deemed acceptable in a dorm room (think Crock-Pot, dehydrator, juicer, food processor, egg cooker, mini-fridge, blender…).
Yeah clearly the scales are tipped towards staying home.
In other news I have my prom on Friday and I am so excited! If you would have asked me back at the beginning of the year if I was going I would have said something along the lines of, “Hell to the no”. Now I can’t imagine doing anything else. Never say never my friends.
So yes I’m excited in case you can’t tell.
The only downfall is that its supposed to rain cats, dogs, and wild tigers on Friday with a chance of meatballs and I’m a bit concerned that my hair will decide to expand to the size of a small country. It’s pretty straight but it can get moody sometimes. Oh well spring showers bring June flowers. I know that’s not how the saying goes but its been raining a lot here and no flowers to report of yet. Today rained in the morning and the afternoon has been humid indeed.
And since I’m clearly the smartest person ever I decided that going to Crossfit and doing “Death by 10m” in the sun would be a great idea. Not. How it worked was the first minute you did 1 10m run then rested until the next minute. Minute 2 you did 2x10m, minute 3 was 3x10m….you get the idea. I got up to 15 or 16 (hey counting is hard when you’re tired!) and my legs were smoked.
I’m trying to get a bit of training in since on Saturday I’m competing in the Teen Gauntlet Competition at my gym which brings together kids 12-18 from all over the Greater Toronto Area to compete sectionals-style. I will be in the Varsity category for kids 16-18. There will be 3 workouts that each participant must compete in and then track their scores on their website. This Teen Gauntlet Competition has been set out by the Crossfit HQ as a fundraiser called Crossfit Hope for Cures which raises money for catastrophic children’s illnesses. If you would like to sponsor me and make a donation to this great cause you can check out my profile here and click “donate”. Any little bit helps!
Banana Vanilla Bean Pancakes are a great way to use up those super ripe bananas and they are a hit with the family. I love to top mine with Really Raw Honey which has bits of bee pollen and bee propolis. With a side of kefir for those probiotics.
Because I love you all I laid it out on a plate before stuffing it in my thermos for school. This was leftover pork ribs, roasted brussels sprouts, and an eggplant hash. There might have been plantain in there somewhere.
Fruit, fruit, fruit
I love fruit. Especially sweet in-season fruit. Thank goodness bananas are always in season. And now that watermelon is here my life is complete. Well its a step closer anyway. And while this may not be as tasty as the gigantic watermelon’s I ate on my grandpa’s farm in Colombia back in December, it doesn’t stop me from eating it.
Just look at the size o’ that thang! Easily twice the size of my head. At one point when I couldn’t get to the gym and there was no one home I may or may not have done overhead lunges with that thing. Yes I so did! I only wish somebody would have taken a picture although its probably not something that should be encouraged since I’d be sued if someone tried it and dropped it on their head or something.
Thanks for stopping by and just a last encouragement to donate to Crossfit Hope for Cures and sponsor me this weekend!
